Attendance is essential for pupils to get the most out of their school experience, including for their attainment, wellbeing, and wider life chances. Parents/carers should not consider remote education as an equal alternative to attendance in school.
We will, however, consider remote education for children as a last resort where a decision has already been made that attendance at school is not possible, but pupils are able to continue learning.
Circumstances where it might not be possible for pupils to receive in person education fit into 2 broad categories:
- school closures or restrictions on attendance, where school access for pupils is restricted
- individual cases where a pupil is unable to attend school but is able to learn
In cases where the school is providing remote education, this will be done through a variety of means as decided by the school, including:
- setting your child learning via our online platform IXL
- sending home paper copies of homework
- directing your child to online learning platforms such as Oak National Academy
- sending home reading books and other reading materials
