The government announced funding to support children and young people to catch up lost time after school closure. This is especially important for the most vulnerable and disadvantaged backgrounds. This funding includes a one-off catch up premium for the 2020 to 2021 academic year to ensure that schools have the support they need to help all pupils make up for lost teaching time.
At Concordia Academy, we will be using this funding for:
- High quality CPD for staff in Phonics and Maths
- Employing an Academic Mentor to deliver one-to-one and small group interventions in Reading, Writing and Maths
- Employing a Tutor to support selected children with home learning (via Zoom if restrictions not lifted) and to provide parents with support in this area
- Setting up an after-school Homework Club for KS1 and KS2
Each term we will assess the progress of these initiatives in closing the gap for the selected children through in-school assessments, monitoring, parental feedback and review. Our main focus will be on assessing Reading, Writing and Maths, with the intention of returning to teaching a normal curriculum as soon as possible.
